Welding after midnight

The set-up was very simple. Two men did the welding behind small improvised covers, and one man was standing and watching the traffic. Although this was a building site all the trams were still moving about, although only very few at this time of night, or morning..... so the watchman has a very important part in this matter. A midnight guard at the Rosenthaler Platz, this place can be so ugly, but also so fantastic... as fascinating as the first scene from Hamlet.

Das Bühnenbild war sehr einfach. Zwei Männer kümmerten sich um das Schweissen hinter improvisierten Schilden, und ein Mann stand daneben und beobachtete den Verkehr. Obwohl es sich hier um eine Baustelle handelte, fuhren noch alle Straßenbahnen, natürlich nur wenige zu dieser Nachtzeit, oder am frühen Morgen wie man es sieht .... so daß dem Wächter eine sehr wichtige Aufgabe zukam. Eine Mitternachtswacht am Rosenthaler Platz, der so hässlich sein kann aber auch so faszinierend ... so faszinierend wie die erste Szene in Hamlet.
